Barista Certificate 

An NZQA certificate course in professional barista skills. Learn about coffee heritage and production, equipment and recipes, and making coffee to barista standards in a cafe environment.


Qualification:

On successful completion of this course candidates will receive the:

  • HSI Certificate of Achievement - Barista Skills
  • As well as unit standards including:
    • Unit standard 17284 (Demonstrate knowledge of coffee heritage & production)
    • Unit standard 17285 (Demonstrate knowledge of coffee equipment & recipes)
    • Unit standard 17286 (Prepare & present pressed coffee for service)
    • Unit standard 17287 (Prepare & present filtered coffee for service)
    • Unit standard 17288 (Prepare & present expresso beverages for service) 

Duration:

Evening Class: 6 evenings. The course will be run for 2 evenings per week for 3 consecutive weeks.
Tues & Wed, 6pm - 9pm

Day Class: 4 days. The course will be run for 2 days per week for week for 2 consecutive weeks. Tues & Wed, 9am - 3pm.

Course 1/10: 18, 19, 20, 21 Jan
Course 2/10: 22, 23, 24, 25 Feb
Course 3/10: 12, 13, 14, 15 Apr
Course 4/10: 17, 18, 19, 20 Aug

Class Size:

Limited to 8 maximum.

Entry Requirement:

Domestic Students: Open

International Students (those who are not NZ/Australian citizens or permanent residents and hold a work visa/permit) must be 18 years of age, have proof of current medial and travel insurance at time of enrolment and aupply a copy of their current permit/visa on application.

Fees 

Domestic students: NZ$250.00
International Students: NZ$400.00

Course units are accredited by the New Zealand Qualification Authority (NZQA) and approved by the Hospitality Standards Industry (HSI).
