RYA/MCA YACHTMASTER OFFSHORE - MOTORCRUISING 

The RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Offshore Certificate is a certificate of competency for skippering motorboats up to 24m/200 tonnes within 150 miles of a safe haven overseas. It consists of comprehensive package of  a 6 day theory and intensive 4 day practical afloat training (plus a 1 day practical exam) and includes all STCW 95 training. 


Qualification:

The successful candidate will receive:

  • RYA Yachtmaster Offshore Shorebased Certificate 
  • STCW 95 Competence in Fire-Fighting and Fire Prevention Certificate 
  • STCW 95 Competence in Personal Survival Techniques Certificate 
  • STCW 95 Competence in Personal Safety & Social Responsibilities Certificate 
  • STCW 95 Competence in Elementary First Aid 
  • MNZ Certificate of STCW95 Basic Training
  • Maritime Restricted (Radio) Operator's Certificate 
  • RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Offshore/Power Endorsement Certificate of Competency. Issued to successful candidates by the RYA of Southampton, UK. 
     

Duration and 2010 Start Dates

4 week course: 15 February; 14 June; 13 September; 1 November

Class Size:

Maximum of 5 per course.

Entry Requirement:

Candidates must have logged 50 days at sea, 2500 nautical miles, 5 days as skipper on a motorboat while cruising at sea. This mileage must be logged on genuine cruises or passages and not only short day trips.  The mileage must include at least 5 varied passages with rhumb lines of over 60 miles, 2 of which the candidate must have undertaken as skipper and 2 of which must have been undertaken at night.  Half of the qualifying sea time must have been conducted in tidal waters. Candidates must also obtain a seafarers certification of medical fitness before the start of the course.

Domestic students: NZ$5,000.00
International students: NZ$5,764.00

Student Benefits:

Student loans and allowances are not available for this package.

Accreditation:

This course is accredited with the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) of Southampton, UK who will issue the Certificate of Competency.
