RYA/MCA COASTAL SKIPPER - MOTORCRUISING
The RYA/MCA Coastal Skipper Motorcruising course is designed for those with a knowledge and understanding of motorcruising and navigation.
This Certificate of Competency allows the holder to skipper yachts up to 24m in length and to be Chief Mate on vessels of up to 500 tonnes within 60 miles of a safe haven overseas. It consists of a 7 day classroom session, an intensive 4 day practical period aboard a powerboat (plus a 1 day practical exam), together with the STCW 95 Basic Training course.

- STCW Competence in Fire-fighting and Fire Prevention Certificate
- STCW Personal Survival Techniques Certificate
- STCW Personal Safety & Social Responsibilities Certificate
- STCW Competence in Elementary First Aid
- MNZ Certificate of STCW95 Basic Training
- Maritime Restricted (Radio) Operator's Certificate
- RYA/MCA Coastal Skipper/Power Endorsement Certificate of Competency. Issued to successful candidates by the RYA of Southampton, UK.

4 week course - 15 February; 14 June; 13 September; 01 November

4 week course - 14 February; 13 June; 31 October

Maximum of 10 per course
Entry Requirement:
Candidates must be ages 17 or over. Candidates should have logged 30 days seatime, with 2 days of acting as skipper and 800 nautical miles, with a total of at least 12 night hours. Half of the qualifying sea time must have been conducted in tidal waters. If you wish your RYA Coast Skipper certificate to be commercially endorsed you are required to hold a seafarer's medical certificate.

Domestic students: NZ$5,000.00 + GST
International students: NZ$5,764.00 + GST
Student Benefits:
Student loans and allowances are not available for this package.
Accreditation:
This course is accredited with the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) of Southampton, UK who will issue the Certificate of Competency.
Please note that as the duration of the motorcruising practical is 4 days, a RYA Course Completion Certificate cannot be issued. Only courses with a practical component of 5 or more days duration can be issued such a certificate.
