MTI Certificate in Tourism with Hospitality

Opportunities abound in this high profile, hands-on, customer service industry. There is a growing need for qualified and professional people who can meet or exceed the expectations of visitors.
This certificate is a pre-requisite to further qualifications within the tourism and / or travel industries. Completion of this course will provide you with the skills needed to succeed in this people focused industry, recognised as NZ’s largest foreign exchange earner.
Combined with extensive hospitality components this course offers you career choices in either or both the tourism or hospitality industries. Once you have gained this certificate you may choose to further your studies in more specialised fields or directly enter the work force.
For those who are serious about a career in tourism and/or travel this certificate is your admission to a world of opportunities.


Practical Training

Practical training is encouraged to be undertaken during the course term breaks. This gives you up-to-date and hands-on industry training not achievable through text books. Field trips are also undertaken at various times during the course and will require some time away from home.

Qualification

On successful completion of this course you will receive the:

  • National Certificate in Tourism - Core Skills (Level 3).
  • Mahurangi Technical Institute Certificate in Tourism with Hospitality.
  • HSI Certificate of Achievement - Wine
  • HSI Certificate of Achievement - Barista
  • HSI Certificate of Achievement - Licence Controller Qualification
  • First Aid Certificate.  

Duration & Start Date:  

40 weeks (including 6 weeks (3x2) term holidays)

Class Size:

Kept to a minimum to maximise individual attention

Entry Requirement:

OPEN, however those with NCEA Level 1 are preferred.  All applicants will be required to attend an interview.
